No Labels does not usually try to sound the alarm bells on a Sunday, when people are trying to enjoy their weekend. But yesterday, a member of our team took some footage that should serve as a wakeup call for all of us.
A No Labels volunteer caught this footage at a campaign rally in New Jersey yesterday for Dr. Adam Hamawy, currently running as a Democrat for an open seat in a solidly blue Congressional district. The speakers, including Hasan Piker, called for abolishing DHS and ICE and spent a good deal of energy attacking the moderate Democrats who will not go along with them. Hasan Piker is a far-left Twitch streamer who has been condemned by the Anti-Defamation League for spreading anti-Jewish tropes and excusing terrorism.

What worries us is that Hamawy is not a protest candidate with no shot. He is the frontrunner, with endorsements from Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, and Rashida Tlaib, and winning the primary would almost certainly mean a victory in the general election in November. The people on that stage are not shouting from the margins. They are organizing to take power and enact their agenda, and in races like this one they have a real chance of getting it.
And the more you learn about Hamawy, the more there is to question. Court records and a recent investigation document his past as a character witness for the “Blind Sheikh,” who was convicted of plotting terrorist attacks in New York, and his volunteer work with a Bosnian charity that the 9/11 Commission tied to Osama bin Laden’s early financial network.
